Lane Poole Reserve is a massive area which includes several camping and recreation areas including Charlies Flat, Chuditch and Nanga Mill. Being just 100km from Perth, it is perfect for relaxing weekends or a quick mid-week break. Kids can ride their bikes, parents can relax and dogs can have heaps of fun with the family. We have had this site recommended to us by many CCC members and have visited it ourselves and we highly recommend it for a few days away.

Some areas are suitable for 4WD’s only but there are other campsites that are suitable for caravans, campers and smaller to medium motor homes. For caravans and motor homes, speak to the ranger at the Gate House on the way in as they sometimes allow you to cut across the bridge to Nanga Mill site so that you only have to go over a small amount of unsealed road at the entrance.  For all other vehicles, there is quite a length of unsealed road to the campsites but it is well maintained.

Be warned, when we stayed at Nanga Mill a few years ago year in March, the March flies were vicious but we have been at other times and never had a problem at all.  Still, pack the insect spray and a mozzie net just in case.  Apart from that, we just love this campsite!

Dwellingup has a fantastic tourist bureau which is well worth visiting and has maps of Lane Poole Reserve which will help choose a suitable campsite. Bikes and caravans can be hired near the Dwellingup pub. Dwellingup itself is a lovely place to spend a bit of time.

For more information about all the sites available, including site details and maps of the area, visit the DEC website.
