Beside Balingup Brook, this grassed and shaded spot is within walking distance of the town and right next door to the football oval. It is intended as an overnight stay but it is possible to stay for three days. Although just a short stay facility, this is a lovely spot. It is very, very cheap and you book and pay at the Balingup General Store which is just about the first shop on the right as you head south into town.
The town of Balingup is well worth spending some time in. It is a tiny place that many people just pass through on their way somewhere else but stop for a while and wander the shops or relax under the trees as there really is something for everyone. The eateries alone cover delicious pies, a French bakery, organic cafe, gourmet deli and a very relaxed Tavern. The shops include fruit wines, beads, jewellers, clothing and herbal products as well as a great toy shop. All of that is within the kilometre of the main road but venture out and there’s even more to experience. It’s easy to find parking for caravans and RV’s around the small park in the centre of town.
Next time you get the chance, be sure to stop the car, get the dog out and take a walk through Balingup.
